Amazon GameLift releases a major update to the standalone plugin for Unity game engine on GitHub that now supports the latest versions of Unity Long Term Support (LTS) and Amazon GameLift Server SDK

Hello Game devs,

We are excited to announce that Amazon GameLift plugin for Unity now supports the latest Long Term Support version of Unity game engine and Amazon GameLift Server SDK. With this release, Amazon GameLift Plugin for Unity now supports 2021.3 LTS and 2022.3 LTS for Windows and Mac OS. This release brings major updates to the plugin since the initial launch in 2021, that includes support for Amazon GameLift Anywhere and native integration with Unity package manager along with UX improvements.

Value Add

Ease of use: The standalone Unity plugin adds Amazon GameLift functionality to your Unity Editor. Customers can integrate their game project with GameLift Server SDK, test it, and deploy their game server to cloud hosting without leaving their Unity development environment.

Intuitive UI: Customers can use guided workflows in the Unity editor to manage their local AWS user profiles, set up supporting AWS resources, create Anywhere fleets for local iteration and testing and deploy a cloud hosting solution to Amazon GameLift

Included sample game: The plugin source code includes an updated multiplayer sample game that serves as a working example for game developers to integrate GameLift with their game and get up running quickly.

Integrated support for Unity package Manager: With the built-in support for Unity Nuget registry, game developers can now let the plugin handle GameLift Server SDK dependencies with minimal configuration.

Built in templates for most common game deployment scenarios: Customers can deploy their game for local hosting, or choose between two commonly used cloud hosting scenarios for deploying Single-Region Fleet and Spot Fleet, that balance player latency, game session availability, and cost. In addition, customers can also opt to deploy their games with a simple FlexMatch matchmaker provided with the plugin code.
