Launch of new automated payment capability for AWS IN customers
What's launched?
AWS India customers can now make automatic recurring payments for their invoices by setting up e-mandate on their credit or debit cards. Today customers in India pay their AWS invoices manually using credit card, debit cards, net-banking or UPI. With this launch, customers can eliminate all manual overhead by simply setting up automatic payments (upto INR 15,000) on their cards.
What is an e-mandate?
In India, an e-mandate refers to a digital payment service offered by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). It allows customers to setup automated recurring payments on their credit/debit cards by providing authorization to AWS . The e-mandate process involves customers providing consent to AWS (the entity receiving the payment) to initiate automatic deductions from their respective card.
How to setup automatic payments?
- Login to your AWS account, and navigate to the Payments page.
- On the Payments page, the Payments due table lists all of your remaining AWS bills.

- Choose the invoice that you're paying in the Payments due table and select Complete payment.
- In the Payment summary section, select the checkbox next to Charge this payment method automatically for future payments.

- Note: You can’t select the checkbox to set up e-mandate if your credit or debit card is not supported, or if it is not set up as the default payment method. To change your default payment method, see Designate a default payment method.
- Choose Verify and pay.
- Bank redirects you to verify the payment and e-mandate setup. Once e-mandate is successfully configured, your default payment method on the Payment preferences page shows the status as AutoPay enabled.

- Your future AWS bills up to INR 15,000 will be automatically charged to your credit or debit card each month, starting with the next billing cycle.
