AWS B2B Data Interchange New Feature Launch Announcement

AWS B2B Data Interchange is now a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) eligible service and supports X12 version 5010 HIPAA transaction sets, extending the service’s fully automated, event-driven EDI transformation capabilities to healthcare use cases.

Covered entities such as healthcare insurers, payers, providers, plan administrators, and clearinghouses are now able to parse, validate, and transform EDI used to submit claims, verify eligibility, enroll policyholders, and exchange patient information. These new HIPAA transaction sets add to AWS B2B Data Interchange’s existing support for dozens of other X12 transactions. The American National Standards Institute X12 (ANSI X12) and HIPAA provide data standards that help to promote interoperability and protect patient privacy.

The service is HIPAA eligible and supports X12 version 5010 HIPAA transaction sets in all AWS Regions where the AWS B2B Data Interchange service is available. A full list of these transactions, along with their descriptions and categories, can be found in our documentation.
