Amazon GameLift Servers SDKs for C++, C#, and Go are now truly open source with improved onboarding and faster integration for game developers worldwide.
Dear Game Developers,
We’re excited to announce that the Amazon GameLift Server SDKs for C++, C#, and Go are now open source, available in the Amazon GameLift GitHub Organization. Our game engine plugins, for Unreal Engine, and Unity, and developer tools have also been moved under the same organization for easier access and contribution.
This launch isn’t just about opening up code—it’s about getting closer to the game development community. By open-sourcing the Amazon GameLift Servers SDKs, we’re creating a transparent and collaborative environment where developers can trust in consistent updates, faster issue resolution, and direct engagement with the Amazon GameLift Servers team. It enables two-way communication, where developers can raise issues, suggest improvements, or contribute code that benefits the broader community. This open-source release marks a major step in empowering developers to build, customize, and scale multiplayer games on Amazon GameLift with greater confidence and flexibility. We look forward to building the future of multiplayer games together—with the community, for the community.
Alongside open-sourcing, we’ve significantly improved the onboarding and integration experience by removing long-standing friction points, like, requirements for specific OpenSSL versions, and CMake . These updates significantly reduces the manual steps in building the server SDKs enabling faster integration.
