New SES region Sydney emails are being marked as spam by Gmail

New SES region AP-Southeast-2 (Sydney)  
  
All emails using this region are being marked as spam by Gmail, I previously used region US East 1 had no problems with sending to Gmail.  
  
I have valid SPF policy and DMARC setup. Gmail doesn't like ap-southeast-2.amazonses.com

Issue is avoided by setting up custom MAIL FROM domain, setting up DKIM keys, and SPF record.  
Can now confirm gmail, outlook now accept emails from ap-southeast-2 SES if all 3 actions above are taken.
