One of my ec2 instance (Amazon Linux) stopped booting suddenly today!

I have tried reboot multiple times, no luck, and I could see in the system log below warning. I use this environment for learning/upgrade myself, and bit new to these kind of issues, appreciate any insights on this regard.

Warning: Boot has failed. To debug this issue add "rd.shell rd.debug" to the kernel command line. I have tried repairing using xfs_repair, in CloudShell, and getting Device or resource busy.

Also, tried rebooting from Cloud Shell, and found below.

[cloudshell-user@ip-<...........> ~]$ reboot System has not been booted with systemd as init system (PID 1). Can't operate. Failed to connect to bus: Host is down [cloudshell-user@ip-<...........> ~]$

  • I have done this exercise successfully, and recovered all my data. BIG thank you, Mohammed!

thank you for the quick response, well appreciated. I tried rebooting from EC2 Dashboard, Its in Running state, but 1/2 checks passed, and not been able to connect. Below are the few ways I tried connecting, but no luck:

  1. From my regular ssh (Connection failed...)
  2. EC2 serial console (Connection stuck with blank window)
  3. Connect using EC2 Instance Connect (Failed to connect to your instance EC2 Instance Connect is unable to connect to your instance. Ensure your instance network settings are configured correctly for EC2 Instance Connect. For more information, see EC2 Instance Connect Prerequisites at https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/ec2-instance-connect-prerequisites.html.)

I am not really sure any other approaches will be there to help to connect to do other checks. once again, thank you for your time and efforts
