CodeArtifact and npm audit

Hello, since we moved to AWS CodeArtifact we have not been able to use npm audit:

npm ERR! code ENOAUDIT
npm ERR! audit Your configured registry (https://xxxxxxxxx.d.codeartifact.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com/npm/XXXXX/) does not support audit requests.

It seems it is a unsupported npm command, according to documentation at https://docs.aws.amazon.com/codeartifact/latest/ug/npm-commands.html

My question is, what solutions are you implementing to obtain a npm security audit? TIA
