[Change Q Title 1.18 to 1.25] Why the *.PSD extension file is not supported in Lumberyard 1.25?

0

Hi Lumberyard team,

The leaves of my trees in my project are not displayed. Why the *.psd extension file is not supported in Lumberyard 1.18 ?

Please you add psd format , etc for support in Lumberyard 1.19.

Please you see yellow rectangles , Should I now create an alpha channel for my photos with png format in photoshop for remap & import to lumberyard 1.18 ?

It really is time consuming and it eliminates my time.

The .psd format is considered to be a source file. Lumberyard needs the product of that source. In this case, the product could be a tiff, targa, png, etc.

Shaders in Lumberyard use the alpha channel of the diffuse texture to control the transparency. I recommend using a 32bit tif to get the effect that you want. Good luck!

when you save a project not the texture in adobe photoshop it is an .psd file that is the project file that when you are working on photoshop is for photoshop. you need to export the textures to the proper lumberyard folder with the supported texture type extension. here are the extensions supported by lumberyard https://docs.aws.amazon.com/lumberyard/latest/userguide/lumberyard-file-types.html

Hi lumberyard team,

Here is a roadmap for support psd file (8 bit/16 bit/32 bit) for lumberyard in next versions? 1.26 or 1.27? I verified psd file, only psd file does not support in 1.25 😉 All image extensions are supported in 1.25, Thanks 😍 ✅
I recommend using a 32bit tif to get the effect that you want.
Thank you for your tip , BUT This is an important issue with user friendly, people like lumberyard to support all image extensions, as well as PSD extension(This is vital for solo/indie game dev)
