How to Update and redeploy lambda function correctly using aws console?

Question

I have a Lambda function already written and deployed. But I made some changes now and after clicking the deploy button, got a notification:Successfully deployed".
But the changes i made did not take effect. 
The lambda function is for calling my server api with some params . I just added one more param and that should be sent via the api call to my server. But after deploying the changes also, at the server side, I'm only getting the same old request from the lambda function. The changes/update have not take effect. New param is not coming through. Is there anything else to do after deploying function?

Usually it should be enough. To be sure, make another change (even modifying a comment) and deploy again.

Saying that, you should not be using the console for writing Lambda functions. You should be using Infrastructure as code such as SAM to deploy the code from a code repository such as Git.
