AWS Certificate Manager Failed

Hello, I received the following error: Additional verification required to request certificates for one or more domain names in this request. I am trying to create a HTTPS for my Elastic Beanstalk domain using Route 53 and AWS Certificate Manager. Is there anything I can do to solve this?

Hello ,

Thank you for posting your question on the AWS Repost, my name is Rochak and it will be a pleasure assisting you with this today. I understand you are getting the error “ Additional verification required to request certificates for one or more domain names in this request.” Please, let me know if my understanding is incorrect.

This error could occur if the certificate contains a domain that ranks within the Alexa top 1000 websites. [1] ACM requires additional information to process this certificate request. This happens as a fraud-protection measure if your domain ranks within the Alexa top 1000 websites. [2] If those doesn’t resolve your issue, you can open ticket with our support team to perform additional verification and they might be able to verify this from their end. [3]

Kind regards, Rochak from AWS

Thank you for the details.

This document might help explain the root cause:

  • Your domain ranks within the Alexa top 1000 website.
  • Note that you cannot request a certificate for Amazon-owned domain names such as those ending in amazonaws.com, or elasticbeanstalk.com.

In the latter case, you might want to register a new domain, request a public certificate, and associate it to your environment's load balancer or CloudFront.

In other cases such as installing certificate in a single instance environment, refer to the Elastic Beanstalk guide and see if it helps.
