ImageBuilder components lifecycle

I'd like to know if there is some kind of lifecycle management AWS offers for managing ImageBuilder components or one might want to look for a custom solution like AWS Lambda to automate retirement of obsolete and/or unused versions. I'm asking since over time ImageBuilder components versions count may grow a lot and always asking for limits increase might not be the best solution. Thank you very much in advance for any help.
