How to track push notification delivery status

Hi, IHAC is using pinpoint to send push notification. And they will be sendMessage API to send push message directly. And we need to track the delivery status event. From the doc, it said for the push notification with campaign and journey, we can see the sending count in analytics. But if I send push notification directly with sendMessage API, how can I tract the delivery status like message_sent, received, opened.
