Email validation in ACM still pending after 12 hours!

Hi, I'm having some issues with email validation on ACM. I registered a domain on Route 53 and then tried to attach a certificate. I went through the process and choose email validation. I use Gmail and have yet to receive an email to validate, I have checked spam, promotions etc. Is there a reason why I haven't received an email with this? I double checked on Route 53 to ensure the correct email address was used, all okay at that end. Any help on this issue would be great!
