playback of kinesis video stream with 2 uploads skips

0

I have a system that sends a little bit of video to the kinesis streams on an event. we are using the kvssink plugin and gstreamer in the offline mode and it works well. we already have the kvssink update where the start-time is set in milliseconds

now we have added some functionality where the user can request more video around the event. It will upload the a longer bit of video over the top of this old bit of video.

we can not exactly determine the exact timestamp of the first frame of the larger video file, so when we play back the stream it seems to skip a lot. with 'skipping' i mean that it plasy about 3 seconds of video, it then jumps back 0.5 second and plays that 0.5 second again and then continues until about another 3 seconds have played and then it skips back 0.5 second. This doesn't happen if there wasn't already anything else there in the stream at that timestamp.

from what we've read this is because the timestamps of the fragments are out of sync and the second upload does not overwrite the first upload.

  • is my assumption correct ?
  • is there a way to set an 'overwrite' or a way to 'clear' a time-range of video on the kinesis stream ?
  • if there isn't if i start time stamping every frame and use that time stamp, and i upload the second file, will this guarantee to stop the skipping of fragments.
  • is there anything else that i can try to fix this skipping ?
