Smart thermostat example of AWS Edukit

Not getting messages after subscribing to topic with client ID of device in data sync step of smart thermostat example of AWS IoT Edukit. Getting following message even after sending message to subscription : "No messages have been sent to this subscription yet. Please send a message to this subscription to see messages here."
