upgrading to ubuntu20 from ubuntu16 is not reflecting on aws console

Hi, I have launched an EC2 instance with ubuntu 16 Xenial on console. I logged into terminal via ssh (ssh -i/Downloads/<pem key> ubuntu@<public ip> and upgraded to ubuntu focal(20.04). now the instance in the console is not changed or reflected to ubuntu focal. it still reflecting ubuntu16(AMI is still the same) its not changed. i checked the ami from the market place. it still is ubuntu16. can any one help me regarding this?
