Update software to TLS 1.2 for Amazon Simple Email Service

I am using Amazon Simple Email Service in the sandbox - very simple usage with perhaps one or two emails sent per month. AWS has identified TLS 1.0 or TLS 1.1 connections to AWS APIs from my account that must be updated for you to maintain AWS connectivity. I must update my client software as soon as possible to use TLS 1.2 or higher to avoid an availability impact. As I only set this up for these few email instances I am quite at a loss to move forward.
