Free tier expiring mail

0

I have received the mail that my free tier is expiring soon. But I have no instances up and running. I am new to the aws services and hence a little confused.

It's understandable to be confused when receiving an email about your AWS Free Tier expiring, especially if you're not actively using any services. Here's what you need to know:

  1. The AWS Free Tier typically lasts for 12 months from the date you first activated your AWS account. This period is coming to an end for you.

  2. If you currently have no active services or resources running in your account, you won't incur any charges from AWS after the Free Tier expires.

  3. The email you received is a standard notification sent to all users as their Free Tier period approaches its end. It's meant to remind users to review their account and terminate any resources they no longer need to avoid unexpected charges.

  4. Even though you're not using any services now, it's a good practice to review your AWS Billing Dashboard to confirm there are no active resources you might have forgotten about.

  5. Some AWS services offer "Always Free" tiers that don't expire even after your initial 12-month Free Tier period ends. You can continue to use these within specified limits without incurring charges.

  6. To prevent any potential future charges, you might want to set up a Free Tier usage alert or a zero-use budget. These will notify you if there's any usage in your account that could result in charges.

Remember, if you truly have no active resources, you won't be billed. The email is simply a precautionary measure to ensure users are aware of the change in their account status.

  • I received mail that 645 hrs out of 750 hrs. I had created some instances but also terminated them after an hour or so.

Hello.

Please check the EC2 global view from the URL below and check if it is running in another region.
https://us-east-1.console.aws.amazon.com/ec2globalview/home?region=us-east-1#

If EC2 is not started in any region, it should be 0 as shown in the image below.
If this number is other than 0, EC2 is running in some region.
