Ad Marker Insertion into HLS Manifest in Timed Increments

Question

What I Have:
I have a channel running on MediaTailor that allows for playout assembly of video segments in the following fashion: ad break, video1, ad break, video2, ad break, video3, ad break...etc. This is created by attaching a zero second ad break to the start of each individual video.

What I Want:
The ability to set timed ad insertion regardless of breaks in body of video (mid-roll): video 1 - ad plays at 0 time, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes (every 5 minutes), video 2 - ad plays at 0 time, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes (every 5 minutes), etc.

Has anyone figured out how to do this in MediaTailor?

Accepted Answer

MediaTailor only looks for breaks that appear in the manifest and reacts to those. I'm assuming that you are using Channel Assembly to create this stream. In that case, you can use Channel Assembly's UI or API to insert ad breaks at any point you like by editing the offset value.
