Hello.
As per the error, you may need to review the network settings.
Does the EC2 security group allow SSH with inbound rules?
Also, is the subnet where EC2 is launched configured as a public subnet?

My instance does have a public IP.
How do I check which AMI I am using (apologies, I am a beginner).
Might also be worth noting. This used to work, but it no longer does.

Which AMI are you using? Only these are supported:
- Amazon Linux 2 prior to version 2.0.20190618
- CentOS Stream 8 and 9
- macOS Sonoma, Ventura, and Monterey
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8 and 9
- Ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04
Hey David, this isnt entirely true. It only states its not preinstalled on the list above. The following have it preinstalled:- *AL2023 *Amazon Linux 2 2.0.20190618 or later *Ubuntu 20.04 or later

Yes, I allow SSH and it is configured as a public subnet as far as I can tell. Anything else I can check?
Does the instance have a Public IP?
Does EC2 have a public IP as @Gary Mclean says? https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/ec2-instance-connect-prerequisites.html#eic-prereqs-network-access
Are all communications allowed in the subnet network ACL settings? Also, is a route to the Internet gateway set in the subnet route table?
