DMS between MySQL RDS in 2 different accounts

What is the best approach to creating a read replica of an RDS instance in a different account than the source DB.? I have narrowed down the options to 2 approaches.

• Using the Data migration Service - I started with this approach but could not find a way to create an endpoint that points to the RDS in a different account
• Create a replica in the same account. Stop replication once the replica has caught up. Take snapshot and restore it in the destination account and then set the leader in this replica
