How to immediately bring up onscreen keyboard when using an iPad in the Native portal?

When I access my Appstream 2.0 session using an iPad, by default it comes up in Native Portal mode. In that mode, when you click the Keyboard icon it brings up a long row of special and function keys. In order to actually bring up the onscreen keyboard, you first have to scroll all the way to the right, then click Open or Close Onscreen Keyboard. To close the onscreen keyboard, you have to do all that in reverse. It's very unintuitive and cumbersome. On the other hand, if you switch to the Classic Portal, clicking on the Keyboard icon immediately brings up (or hides) the onscreen keyboard, because in that portal it's separate from the "Fn" icon.

First of all, I don't want to have to tell all my users that they first have to switch to the Classic Portal every time they start a session. Second, my understanding is that the Classic Portal will be going away soon anyway.

Is there a way when using the Native Portal, when using an iPad, to be able to easily bring up or hide the onscreen keyboard? Thanks very much.
