Direct connect association with VGW

Question

Hello,
I have one VPC in each AZ in Mumbai region.  Planning to apply for two direct connect port(hosted)

Question.

1.) Can I link VGW of each VPC in AZ1 and AZ2 to direct connect or do I need to have a direct connect gateway association with each VGW. and than Gateway association with direct connect using private interface?

Want to have a low cost solution

Hello,

I recommend checking the below link which describes all the options you have for all the VIF Types. Specifically the scenario you are looking at is shown as **Option1** Or **Option 2**. In general, if your network is going to expand globally or multi-region we recommend using Direct Connect Gateway which is a global construct you can use to consolidate your connectivity.

Thanks for the clear description.

If you have only one VPC, you create one VGW and attach it to the VPC (instead of AZs). Direct Connect Gateway is not necessary unless you plan to connect to more than one VPCs in any account that are located in the same or different Regions.
