Unable to Transfer Domain into Route 53

0

I am currently attempting to transfer a domain into Route 53. I've followed all the steps in the documentation, but I get an error whenever I try to check domain transferability. Typing in the domain we wish to transfer, then hitting "Check" I simply receive a response "InvalidInput". Looking at Chrome dev tools I see the API request returns a 400 error with no useful information. I've confirmed the domain name is exactly the same that is listed at whois.com.

So my question is, what is an "InvalidInput" error, does it pertain to the domain I am entering in the text input field or is there some bug with the UI?

  • I'm having exactly the same issue.

Hello,

As for your issue there are few things to do as you have done already.

  • Changing the browser and clearing the Cache and cookies.
  • Using private Window Once check with your Domain Activation Time period. Few domains take 24-48 Hours. Once check with your internal connection between Resources.

For Additional Information please refer the Document: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/Route53/latest/DeveloperGuide/domain-whois-rdap.html

I don't know about that specific Check button, but 400 errors are sometimes returned by various console views when the HTTP request size exceeds the maximum allowed by the APIs. It can happen when doing a lot of switching between roles in different accounts, for example, causing some of the cookie or similar fields to exceed the size limit.

Perhaps you could try to start the domain transfer in a new incognito browser session?

  • I was thinking it was browser specific as well, and tried multiple browsers but not incognito. Per your advice I just tried incognito and received the same result.

  • If you try it with the domain dummytest.aws, does it return the same error?
