Amazon QLDB Streams - Unknown record format with unreadable characters

Question

I created a QLDB stream with console

But the record data contains unreadable characters

And it doesn't look like it is in JSON format

I tried to stream a dynamoDB table to the same data stream and it works perfectly

What happened to QLDB Streams?

The data on the stream is in ION format, and as it is on a Kinesis Data Stream it is also base64 encoded, hence the output you are seeing.
