Opening new tabs for info in Ground Truth (private labeling)

Our task interfaces in Ground Truth have links to additional content that an annotator can use to validate additional information for the task. We've included these as links with target=_blank but they don't work because the labeling interface hasn't enabled the 'allow-popups' permission for the iframe.

Having additional detail as a link to a new tab is a really common pattern in annotation tasks; is there an alternate way to do this?
