Redis Elasticache Eviction Policy Downtime

In order to optimize, we are working on changing the eviction policy of our Redis Elasticache cluster. Question is, can we change the eviction policy without causing any downtime?

Yes, you can change the eviction policy for a Redis AWS ElastiCache cluster without causing downtime. However, please note that the changes to the policy will be applied immediately, so it is recommended to select an eviction policy appropriately based on your application's requirements for data retention and access patterns. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/whitepapers/latest/database-caching-strategies-using-redis/evictions.html

To make that change, you can 1 Go to the AWS Management Console and select ElastiCache. 2. Choose the ElastiCache service, select the cluster you want to modify, and click on the "Modify" button. 3. In the "Modify" page, locate the "Advanced Redis settings" section. Here, you can change the eviction policy. 4. After making the necessary changes, scroll down and click the "Modify" button to apply the changes.
