Add IPv6 support to your VPC

0

Hi re:Post Community, please I need some assistance.

I am currently trying to add IPv6 support to my VPC and I was wondering which option to select in the "Edit CIDRs" section.

After clicking on "Add new IPv6 CIDR"edit IPv6 CIDR, I am asked to select one of the following options between : IPAM-allocated IPv6 CIDR block, Amazon-provided IPv6 CIDR block, and IPv6 CIDR owned by me. Add IPv6 CIDR Please I would like to know what is the best option to select as I am not quite familiar with a lot of these terminologies.

Hello.

Basically, there should be no problem if you select "Amazon-provided IPv6 CIDR block".
"Amazon-provided IPv6 CIDR block" is automatically assigned from the IPv6 CIDR range managed by AWS, so users who do not have an IPv6 address will basically select this.

"IPv6 CIDR owned by me" is an option when using a user-owned IPv6 CIDR.
https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/ec2-byoip.html

IPAM is an abbreviation for "Amazon VPC IP Address Manager" and is a function for managing IP addresses.
You can select to use an IP address CIDR owned by a user linked to IPAM.
