There are several reasons why you might not be seeing email statistics in your Amazon SES Virtual Deliverability Manager (VDM) Dashboard, despite sending about 2,000 emails per day:
-
Engagement Tracking: You mentioned that "Engagement Tracking" is disabled. This setting needs to be enabled for VDM to collect and display engagement metrics such as open rates and click rates. Without this enabled, you won't see these important statistics in your dashboard.
-
Recent Setup: You only enabled VDM two days ago. It may take some time for the data to populate in the dashboard, especially if you're not seeing any immediate delivery issues.
-
Email Recipients: VDM only tracks metrics for emails that have a single recipient. If your emails are being sent to multiple recipients, these won't be counted in the VDM dashboard metrics.
-
Mailbox Simulator: If you're using the SES mailbox simulator for testing, these emails are not counted in any of the VDM dashboard metrics.
-
Delegate Sender's Account: If you're sending emails through a delegate sender's account (formerly known as cross-account sending), these emails are not counted in the VDM dashboard metrics.
To start seeing statistics in your VDM Dashboard:
- Enable Engagement Tracking in your configuration settings.
- Ensure you're sending emails to single recipients when possible.
- Wait a few more days for data to accumulate and appear in the dashboard.
- Double-check that you're not exclusively using the mailbox simulator or delegate sender's account for your email sends.
If you've addressed these points and still don't see data after a few more days, you may want to contact AWS support for further assistance.

I wanted to follow up on this thread now that I know the reason for the issue.
I found in other related threads that for any emails that have a CC or BCC recipient in the outgoing email, these emails will NOT show up in the Virtual Deliverability Manager (VDM) dashboard.
Since I BCC all of my outgoing SES emails, this has rendered this feature useless for me unless AWS fixes this bug.
