AWS lightsail instance, websocket connection not working

I am using AWS lightsail to host my webapp. Even though I opened the ports in the firewall, it is not possible to etablish a websocket connection. What could be the reason?

Found the issue. The firewall works fine. The problem was that I use cookies for authentication and the cookie was not created, since I have set it to "Secure", but didn't use an SSL certificate.
