How does exactly 3-months-trial of Lightsail work?

0

Hey all!

I'm new to AWS pricing policy and looking for some help.

On the page: https://aws.amazon.com/lightsail/pricing/

It says:

For a limited time, Lightsail is extending its free tier to include three months free on select bundles. The offer applies to new or existing AWS accounts that started Lightsail usage on or after 7/8/2021. Offer only applies to one bundle per account. Standard charges apply after first 750 hours of usage of the selected bundle each month. Check out the following offers and save now on Amazon Lightsail.

What does it exactly mean "applies to one bundle per account"? Is it first created instance only? Or how does it count?

  1. Let's say I've created a 5$ instance, it's free for 90 days / 3 months. During trial period I decide to switch to 7$ instance. I delete my 5$ instance and create a new one for 7$. Will it benefit from 3-months-trial or will the deleting of the first instance interrupt my trial period?
  2. Other example. Let's say I create 5$ instance and 7$ instance at one. They coexist for less than 375 hours (< 750 hours in summary), then I delete them. What will I pay for in that case?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Aleksandr,

A bundle in lightsail refers to combination of memory, vCPU, and solid-state drive (SSD) storage. So, to address your query

  1. If you switch to 7$ instance from a 5$ instance during the trail period and continue to use it for the rest of the trail period then it would count towards the 3-months-trial.
  2. Having two instances of different types at the same time would count as two bundles and not as a single bundle. You would be charged in this case.

You can also refer to the pricing --> https://aws.amazon.com/lightsail/pricing/

Hope it helps.
