Can I upload files directly to AWS EFS from on-premises?

The current solution is to upload files to S3 and then use DataSync to create a task and copy it to EFS, or upload SFTP to an EC2 instance attached to EFS.

Not sure if the use case you are looking for is a fit for this, but check out this walkthrough to mount an EFS file-system from on-premises using an NFS client.
