Using AWS Textract with Javascript SDK in a browser

I have not been able to get Textract to work using the Javascript SDK in a browser. I have found in the changelog that at revision 2.415.0 it states that Textract is in preview mode only and won't work unless my account is granted permission (which I have subsequently applied for but have not heard back). My question is, can someone confirm that it is still in preview mode and is there a timeframe for promoting it to general use in the Javascript SDK? Thanks!
