Amazon GameLift releases a standalone plugin for Unreal Engine (UE) on GitHub that allows UE game developers to quickly access and integrate with Amazon GameLift. The plugin is compatible with UE5.0, 5.1 and 5.2.

We are excited to announce the release of a standalone plugin for Unreal Engine (UE) that game developers can use to quickly access and integrate with Amazon GameLift features. We are also happy to share that this plugin is available to be downloaded directly from GitHub. The plugin source code is available on the Amazon GameLift for Unreal Engine Github repository, and we encourage contributions from the game developer community. The plugin currently supports UE 5.0, 5.1 and 5.2.

Value Add

  • Ease of use: The standalone GameLift plugin for UE adds Amazon GameLift functionality to your Unreal Editor. Customers can integrate their game project with GameLift Server SDK, test it, and deploy their game server to cloud hosting without leaving their Unreal development environment.
  • Built-in templates for most common game deployment scenarios : Customers can deploy their game for local hosting, or choose between two commonly used cloud hosting scenarios that balance player latency, game session availability, and cost. In addition, customers can opt to deploy their games with a simple FlexMatch matchmaker provided with the plugin code.
  • Intuitive UI : Customers can use guided workflows in the Unreal editor to manage their local AWS user profiles, set up supporting AWS resources, create Anywhere fleets for local iteration and deploy a cloud hosting solution to Amazon GameLift.

Included Components in the plugin:

  • Plugin modules for Unreal Engine. When the plugin is installed, a new icon on the main menu gives you access to the Amazon GameLift plugin screens.
  • C++ libraries for the Amazon GameLift service API.
  • Unreal libraries for the Amazon GameLift server SDK 5.
  • Content for testing, including a startup map and two testing maps with basic blueprints and UI elements for use with testing a server integration.
  • Editable configurations (AWS CloudFormation templates) that Amazon GameLift uses to create hosting resources and deploy your game.
