I want to migrate my Plesk website to Amazon Lightsail.

Short Description

Use the Plesk Migrator plugin to migrate a Plesk website from another server to Amazon Lightsail. The Plesk Migrator plugin migrates files, users, subscriptions, FTP accounts, mail, and DNS server setups.

Resolution

Prerequisites

  • Make sure that the version of Plesk on Lightsail is equal to or greater than the version of Plesk on the source server. To check the installation version of Plesk, use SSH to connect to the server, and then run plesk - version. For more information, see How to update Plesk Obsidian to the latest build? on Plesk's website.
  • Make sure that your Lightsail instance has as many or more resources as the source server. Examples of resources include vCPU, memory, and storage.

Prepare the source server

To prepare your source server, complete the following:

  • Make sure that port 22 is open for your Lightsail server's IP address.
  • Make sure that you have every required key or password.

Host a new Plesk server in Lightsail

To host a new Plesk server, complete the following steps:

  1. Use Plesk Blueprint in Lightsail to launch a Plesk instance.
  2. Log in to Plesk as an administrator.
  3. From the Extensions page, select Server Tools.
  4. Select Plesk Migrator, and then choose Get It Free.
  5. Configure Amazon Route 53. For more information, see Getting started with Route 53.
  6. Select Tools and Settings, and then select IP Addresses.
  7. In the IP Addresses dashboard, make sure that the source and destination instances share an Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPV4) address.

Migrate your website

To migrate your website, complete the following steps:

  1. Log in to Plesk as an administrator.
  2. On the Extensions page, choose Plesk Migrator.
  3. Choose Open, and then choose Start a New Migration.
  4. Enter the source server's IP address, Root login, Authorization, Root Password, SSH port, and Temp directory.
  5. Choose Prepare Migration.
  6. On the List of subscriptions tab, next to Migrate by, choose Subscription.
Note: You can't migrate individual domains. The fewest number of objects that you can migrate is a single subscription and all its domains.
  7. Next to Content that must be transferred, select the types of content that you want to migrate. The options are mail messages, website files, database data, and external IDs.
  8. Choose Migrate. Wait for Plesk to finish pre-migration checks.
  9. If Plesk pre-migration shows no errors, then proceed to step 10. If Plesk pre-migration does show errors, revise the settings that you used, and then choose Refresh.
  10. Choose Start Migration.
