SSL certificate for transferred domain remains "Pending"

Question

Hi!

I would like to have an SSL certificate for my domain that had been registered with Namecheap but has been transferred to AWS Route 53 a few days ago. I first followed this [article](https://aws.amazon.com/premiumsupport/knowledge-center/acm-certificate-pending-validation/?nc1=h_ls) and then this [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mls8tiiI3uc) but neither of those earned me a valid SSL certificate.

On [whois.com](https://www.whois.com/whois/pontifex.live), I see that the nameservers for my domain are still those from Namecheap (at the time of me writing this). That might be important. Or not.

[This](https://repost.aws/questions/QUPxbZqlbqQGeGf9uHgK5keA/certificate-requests-stuck-in-pending-validation) question seems to be equivalent to my situation but the answer has been archived and thus, I cannot access it.

Can someone with higher powers than me please retrieve that (3-year old) answer and post it here? An up-to-date solution would be even better.

Thank you for the detailed description.

I assume that "transferred to AWS Route 53" refers to creating a Route 53 Hosted Zone [1], instead of transferring the domain from Namecheap to Route 53 [2]. In this case, you would find 4 name servers (NS) listed in the hosted zone, something similar to:

ns-123.awsdns-11.com
ns-456.awsdns-22.co.uk
ns-789.awsdns-33.org
ns-1010.awsdns-44.net
```

(or refer to [3] to get the above NS)

Now go to Namecheap, go to "CustomDNS", and put the above 4 hosted zones, with more details in https://www.namecheap.com/support/knowledgebase/article.aspx/767/10/how-to-change-dns-for-a-domain/.

Give it some time (up to 24 hours) for the changes to propagate. If the assumption is incorrect or the issue persists, please feel free to provide additional information. Thank you.

Answer

Solved. I had transferred the domain from Namecheap to Route 53, and created a hosted zone with nameservers provided by AWS.

However, I had not changed the nameservers of my domain. Updating them to those provided by the hosted zone resolved the issue.

To my understanding, this is indeed the solution provided by @weidi, yet on the side of AWS instead of Namecheap.
