If customer paid for 3 year upfront RI for Amazon Redshift, does the full payment count towards a 1 year EDP or is it prorated across 3 years?

No, the full payment for a 3-year upfront Reserved Instance for Amazon Redshift does not count towards a 1-year EDP contract. The EDP discount is applied to the hourly usage of the Reserved Instance over the term of the contract, which is typically one year.
