Why is there still no search field in the ACM console (2024)?

Is there some technical reason to explain why we can't have a search field? Please help me understand. I have to use the AWS CLI to search through certificates. Why?

AWS prioritizes features based on user demand and the impact on their overall service offering. If most users manage a relatively small number of certificates, or if they find the CLI or API adequate for their needs, AWS might prioritize other features or improvements over a console-based search feature.

AWS often encourages the use of its CLI and APIs for more detailed management tasks. They might view the CLI as a more powerful and flexible tool for handling specific queries like searching certificates, especially for users managing large environments. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/cli/latest/reference/acm/list-certificates.html

  • I understand what you're saying, however, other services that probably have fewer managed items have search fields in their management consoles. MSK, EKS, and many others likely have far fewer items in the list than ACM. Those services have search fields.

As for detailed management tasks; searching by domain for a certificate to see its expiration dates or status (typical use case) is not what I would deem a detailed management task.
