If you have an m6i reserved instance, it will only apply to instances launched with the m6i instance type and the specific size (e.g., m6i.large) that matches the attributes of the reserved instance. It cannot be applied to instances of a different type, such as m6id.
If the Reserved Instance is Convertible (CRI), an exchange can be performed between the two types to ensure the commitment matches the usage, so long as the new commitment is equal or greater in value.
