Workdocs - Space in Drive C - Windows

0

Hello. We installed the workdocs app for windows and we noticed that although each Workdocs user has 1 TB of space, on PCs where there is not so much space available on the C drive, the virtual disk created by the Workdocs app only allows use to the limit of free space available on disk "C:" . For example, the disk "C:" has 5 Gb available space, so what we noticed is that although the Workdocs user has 1 Tb, he cannot, for example, transfer 200 Gb that are on a USB Drive to Workdocs, because the virtual drive created by workdocs has an identical limit to the space available on Drive "C:", which in the example is 5 Gb. How can one get around this issue? Is there any way?

Can you clarify what your intended outcome is? Are you wanting the WorkDocs limit to match the limit of the end users hard drive?

The WorkDocs Drive client only downloads files that are "starred" before access. Other files are accessed when downloaded, and thus take up no space on the hard drive. Since files/folders can be shared with users, it's very easy for a user to have far more files in WorkDocs than their physical drive allows, and it's OK - as long as they're only ever accessing that amount of files on WorkDocs, no issue will occur.

Is the issue that you'd like to rotate what WorkDocs Drive has cached so that the user can change what files they have available to them?

  • Hi! I'll try to explain myself better. Imagine the following scenario: Drive C: with 20 Gb of free space. External USB HD with 400 Gb of files to be transferred to Workdocs. With the Workdocs client running on this machine, the W: drive created has 20 GB of free space (identical to Drive C:) In this case I can't transfer/Copy the 400 GB External USB Disk to Drive W: (Workdocs) , because the W: drive indicates that it has 20 Gb free (same as the C drive), even though Workdocs has 1 TB available, on the client (Drive W:) only 20 Gb is available. How to resolve this issue? (Without me having to copy through the web interface).
