Why do the metrics for my Lightsail instance keep disappearing?

For the last week or so I've been getting apparently spurious high CPU utilization alarms for my Lightsail instance. When I log into the management console and look at the CPU metrics, there's no data on CPU usage or Burst Capacity at all. Nothing - no data points shown. I can still log into my instance (it's Linux, FWIW) and it appears to be working fine and there's absolutely nothing going on. The top command shows load averages of 0.0 since forever.

Please verify the `missing-data` setting for your alarms. Here's some documentation that helps explain the available options and what they mean - https://docs.aws.amazon.com/lightsail/latest/userguide/amazon-lightsail-alarms.html#missing-data
