SES verified identifies not verifying CNAME

I've tried setting up an extra verified identity subdomain for mail.mydomain.com and I've gone the EasyDKIM route. I've created the 3 CNAME records that appear in the console and I have verified that they resolve to the correct values by following the troubleshooting guide on https://docs.aws.amazon.com/ses/latest/dg/troubleshoot-verification.html

I've used both nslookup and dig and for both the value matches what the expected value is; however, it has failed to verified twice.

Is SES using a different method to verify these values. I can post my console outputs and also the values I get when I use mxtoolbox.com.

PS: this domain's DNS is not managed through Route53. I've two other identities that are using Route53 and those work fine and they have equivalent CNAME records
