AWS Lightsail IPv6 stack - no route to host error when connecting with ssh on maOS

0

Hi, I got the message that I've to pay 2$ more if I want to keep my public IPv4 address in Lightsail. Therefore I created a snapshot of my Lightsail instance and recreated it with IPv6 stack. I live in Italy and I got myself only an IPv4 public address at home. I think because I don't have a IPv6 address I can't connect via ssh to my AWS Instance. On macOS when I try to connect to my new IPv6 instance I get the following message: ssh: connect to host (IP_v6_address) port 22: No route to host

Is there any way around this or do I have to stick with a public IPv4 address because my internet provider doesn't supports at the moment IPv6?

I'm happy for any input I'll get on this issue, kind regards, IT-Freak

As we've noted in the docs IPv6-only instances require that you and your customers are able to connect using the newer IPv6 protocol. If your ISP, your home router, your software or any other layer in the network between your device and your Lightsail instance don't support IPv6 then you must use IPv4.

As you may know, IPv4 addresses are an increasingly scarce resource and the cost to acquire a single public IPv4 address has risen more than 300% over the past 5 years. This change reflects our own costs and is also intended to encourage you to be a bit more frugal with your use of public IPv4 addresses and to think about accelerating your adoption of IPv6 as a modernization and conservation measure.
