Companies AI bots are destroying my resume to get hired

0

Hello, I've obtained the Cloud Practitioner exam a few months ago and have added to my resume. Like most newbies, I need a break to get into the industry or begin my career shift and have submitted well over 500+ applications with my new cert to no avail. With entry level positions open, most employers still require 1-2 years experience. What is the secret to show relevant cloud skills on my resume with no industry experience besides badges? I feel my age (53) is not helping but have many soft skills to get hired for most jobs. Has anyone else been in this scenario? If so, what strategy helped you get your break? TIA

Hi,

What I can suggest is that you work on resume projects that you publish on Github to demonstrate your skills. Take your favorite 3 topics, think about an attractive demo for each of them, build it and publish your code.

This way, employers will be able to see what you can really do. I think for many companies , it gets more and more important to see tangible proofs of your skills rather than badges, that sometimes only prove that you could answer isolated questions on a given topic! It's very different from getting a project to run...

Emphasize those projects in your resume (rather than the badges) and in the interviews-

Good luck!

  • Thank you sir!

  • NP! Try to make fun demos out of usual tracks : it will earn you extra credits re. originality!
