MediaConvert SubscriptionRequiredException - Account needs activation

I am getting this error on AWS Elemental MediaConvert: "SubscriptionRequiredException: The AWS Access Key Id needs a subscription for the service"

Already done:

  • Clicked Get Started in MediaConvert console
  • Created IAM Role with correct permissions
  • Attached AWSElementalMediaConvertFullAccess to IAM user
  • Valid payment method added (Visa)
  • USD currency set

Account ID: 236664667071 Region: us-east-2

Please help activate MediaConvert for my account.

Here are the steps to resolve this issue:

  1. Verify Regional Activation: MediaConvert must be activated separately in each AWS region where you want to use it. Since you're working in us-east-2, make sure you've clicked "Get Started" specifically in the us-east-2 region console.

  2. Check Service Endpoint: Ensure you're using the correct regional endpoint for MediaConvert in us-east-2. Each account has a unique endpoint URL that you need to use for API calls.

  3. Wait for Propagation: After clicking "Get Started," it may take a few minutes for the activation to propagate through AWS systems. Try waiting 5-10 minutes and then attempt your operation again.

  4. Verify IAM Permissions: While you've attached the AWSElementalMediaConvertFullAccess policy, ensure the IAM user or role you're using has permissions for mediaconvert:DescribeEndpoints, as this is often the first API call made.

  5. Contact AWS Support: If the issue persists after these steps, you'll need to contact AWS Support directly. As an AWS customer with billing enabled, you have access to account and billing support. They can verify your account's service activation status and resolve any backend issues.
