There are a couple of different options. DataSync will talk to an EC2 server that is sharing data via SMB/NFS/HDFS and you can sync to S3. Without using DataSync, you can certainly sync directories to S3 via the AWS CLI. It would somewhat depend on the specific use case, if it is for backup purposes, you might consider AWS Backup.

ok we are usin aws cli now but it is very slow. Trying to find a tutorial online to setup DataSync using SMB since volume we want to sync is running a Windows OS but I don't see a simple solution
Please see https://docs.aws.amazon.com/datasync/latest/userguide/getting-started.html for a step-by-step guide on setting up DataSync. You might also consider using a VPC Gateway Endpoint for S3. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/vpc/latest/privatelink/vpc-endpoints-s3.html. Also, make sure the S3 bucket is in the same region as your EC2 instance and if the goal is have the data in an alternate region use cross-region replication. Please be sure to accept my answer if it has helped you. Thanks..
