Adding ANAME record for Amplify

0

Hello all. I recently purchased the domain myme.al from 100domain.com, one of the few providers that can actually sell it. I was setting up Amplify with no problems until it came to setting up my DNS for the domain. Currently, www.myme.al works but the root domain does not.

I imported the ZONE file into Route53 and changed my name servers over at 100domain.com. However, I am still unable to add an ANAME record for the root of my domain. Any help would be appreciated! let me know if you need any more information!

EDIT: I have read this help article with no success: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/Route53/latest/DeveloperGuide/migrate-dns-domain-inactive.html#migrate-dns-update-domain-inactive

After over a week of trying to figure this out, I realized there is an ALIAS control when you edit a record. I selected an Alias to a cloudfront distribution and pasted in the domain.

This is an alternative approach instead of using ANAME.

Configure Custom Domain in Amplify: Log in to the AWS Amplify Console. Select your app. Go to "Domain management" or a similar section. Click on "Add domain" and follow the prompts to configure your custom domain. Use Amazon Route 53 as Your DNS Provider: If you're not already using Amazon Route 53 as your DNS provider, you can consider transferring your domain to Route 53 or updating your domain's DNS settings to use Route 53's name servers. Create an Alias Record in Route 53: In the Amazon Route 53 console, create an Alias record that points to the Amplify-generated domain name. Alias records in Route 53 behave similarly to ANAME records, allowing you to map your domain to AWS resources like Amplify apps, CloudFront distributions, S3 buckets, and more. The advantage is that Route 53 handles automatic updates if the target changes. Wait for DNS Propagation: After you've created the Alias record in Route 53, allow some time for DNS propagation. Test Custom Domain: Once DNS propagation is complete, you should be able to access your Amplify app using your custom domain.
