Amazon Bedrock foundational Models Access Issue

0

Hello Experts ,

I am getting started with AWS and was trying on my own to explore Amazon Bedrock's features. When I try to enable the foundational models , It shows the below page. When I went through some help it shows that I have to request access , but in my console it shows the models are enabled by default.

I have also given my IAM user with all Bedrock related permissions - but still I am unable to use it. Can someone help me resolve this blocker to continue my learning.

Note : I am using Amazon free tier right now. Region is us-east-1

Hello.

A few days ago, Bedrock removed the model access page for foundation models and made it accessible by default.
However, for Anthropic models, you will still need to apply via the form.

I recommend contacting AWS Support via the "Account and billing" section at the following URL:
"Account and billing" inquiries are free of charge.

There is no "Modify model access" button in "Model access" Page. I'm Amazon free tier, and in us-east1 alse. (I tried changing multiple regions to find the "Modify model access" button, but I couldn't find it.)

Based on your screenshots and description, you're encountering a common issue with Amazon Bedrock model access. While the documentation states that access to foundation models is enabled by default with the correct AWS Marketplace permissions, there are still specific steps you need to take to use these models.

Here's what's happening and how to fix it:

  1. Even though the models appear to be "enabled" in your console, you still need to explicitly request access to each foundation model you want to use before you can invoke them.

  2. To resolve this issue:

  • Navigate to the Amazon Bedrock console
  • Go to "Model access" under "Bedrock configurations" in the left navigation pane
  • Click on "Modify model access"
  • Select the specific models you want to use
  • Click "Next" and follow the prompts to submit your request
  1. If you're requesting access to Anthropic models (like Claude), you'll need to provide use case details by filling out a form.

  2. After submitting your request, it may take several minutes for the access to be granted. Once approved, the access status should change to "Access granted" or "Available to request."

  3. If you continue to experience issues after requesting model access, check:

  • Your IAM permissions to ensure you have the necessary rights
  • That you're in a supported region (you mentioned us-east-1, which is supported)
  • That there are no AWS Organizations policies restricting access to AI/ML services

Being on the free tier shouldn't prevent you from accessing the models, but you'll need to complete the model access request process before you can use them in the playground or via API calls.

  • Thank you for your interest on helping me out , But the answer seems to be outdates as AWS has moved with removing the enabling access page and shows the attached screen that all foundational models are enabled by default. The problem arises when we actually try to use them.
