How to control where or to whom error notification emails are sent.

0

We are sending emails on behalf of our clients using AmazonSES and occasionally one of our client's employees receives an email like the one below. I understand the email is being sent because the address they sent the original email to is probably not valid or otherwise undeliverable. The question is can we control who these messages are sent to and how/where would we do that? For example, can we have them sent to a specific address for each source domain, or can we have them just sent to us.

Thanks, Brian

Hi Brian.

You can use SNS to handle bounced emails. There is an article here in re:Post that describes the required configuration.

I hope this helps (if so, please accept the answer).

Actually, we are using SNS for bounce notifications to our system. However, the emails I described are still being sent. So the question remains how can we control and manage them. They are being sent out automatically, is there a way to disable or configure them?

  • Brian, have you notice any correlation between the "from" or "reply-to" address setup in the original email and who receives the undeliverable email notification?

  • The undeliverable notification is going to the "from" address.

  • The notification email has the following in it.

Diagnostic information for administrators: Generating server: a9-244.smtp-out.amazonses.com
