Hi @Vinay,
Welcome to AWS! I will try to answer as best as possible your concerns.
- Shall I give my Root/Account owner's password to my web developer who I have hired on contract basis?
NO, nowayjose! Never provide your root account user to any 3d party.
- My web developer is getting following error messages while trying to create and launch an instance on Ubuntu to deploy Wordpress on AWS:
Considering the scenario of a simple EC2 instance running Wordpress over Ubuntu on AWS, Your developer only needs access to EC2, now, if part of your agreement is also the setup of the loadbalancer and others, then you can grant the developer IAM user with AmazonEC2FullAccess Policy under AWS IAM Policies which is more than enough for the task.
- How can I give access to one of my domain names to my web developer?
You don't, usually who owns the site manage its DNS, now considering that you have Route53, the developer can do everything it needs and you can create a simple CNAME record of your domain to the ALB, which is a simple task and doesn't involve too much technical challenge.
I would like to recommend this site from AWS Documentation: https://aws.amazon.com/premiumsupport/knowledge-center/route-53-create-alias-records/ https://docs.aws.amazon.com/Route53/latest/DeveloperGuide/resource-record-sets-creating.html
Good luck with the site!
